Our team believes in creating a sustainable, Sustainability & the Green Economy, and we are pursuing initiatives to accomplish that goal.

The Institute of Southern Georgian Bay is dedicated to empowering people to come together to make positive chances in their communities, and we focus our efforts on the issues our community members care about most. One issue on practically everyone’s minds is the threat of climate change and what to do about it, and our members are investigating a variety of ways to create a more sustainable, green society.

In our investigations into the subject, we have become convinced that the economy and the environment do not have to be opposing forces, but can in fact work together to create a stable, sustainable future. For those who are unfamiliar with the term, the core concept of a Sustainability & the Green Economy is that efforts to protect the environment don’t have to come at the expensive of the economy. In fact, investing in sustainability is a great boon to the economy—creating renewable energy infrastructure will create thousands of jobs, to give just one example.
