A Case Study in Collective Impact: How a Cross-Sector Network Is Tackling Affordable Housing in Southern Georgian Bay
Over the past four years, the Social Finance & Affordable Housing Group—a community-led initiative hosted by the Institute of Southern Georgian Bay—has grown into a powerful force for systems change. Now, the journey of this group is captured in a detailed new Case Study and accompanying Addendum, available now on our website.
This work has brought together more than 50 engaged citizens from across municipalities, counties, and sectors to build understanding, drive collaboration, and co-create scalable solutions for one of our region’s most pressing issues: affordable housing.
The newly released Case Study documents the five phases of this work—starting with learning and capacity-building, and culminating in strategy development, community engagement, and project implementation. You’ll find insights into how the group has:
-
- Influenced local housing strategy and policy
- Mobilized community wealth for social good
- Engaged in national innovation networks
- Created tools like the Affordable Housing Toolkit
- Piloted pro forma modeling and community finance strategies
The Addendum offers a rich archive of events, publications, contributors, and data sources—capturing the collaborative infrastructure that continues to shape this movement.
Together, these documents tell a story of persistence, partnership, and the power of community-led change.
