Survey for Habitat in Towns: Collingwood World Summit 2
The Urban Economy Forum and UN-Habitat in partnership with the Town of Collingwood is hosting the 2nd Habitat in Towns: Collingwood World Summit, virtually, on October 7 and 8. The Summit is focused on UN Sustainable Development Goal 11: Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
The Institute is working towards regional participation in this Summit.
Themes for the 2021 Summit are being developed and will include reports back on initiatives from projects kicked off from the 2020 Summit. Please complete this short survey to provide input on potential themes and topics for the 2021 Collingwood World Summit. The Town of Collingwood will close the survey on Monday, June 14th at 1 pm and will review all input that afternoon.
As Institute subscribers will know, the online series Our Sustainable Future is a follow-up to last year’s Habitat in Towns: Collingwood World Summit. We were part of a group of international panelists, experts and participants sharing insights and ideas, sustainability practices, and creating synergies for collaboration. Some key themes in 2020 included:
- Urban Assessment towards realizing Sustainable Development Goals
- Sustainable Resources, Urban Economy, Municipal Finance, and Investment Opportunities
- Families: Women and Youth as a fundamental component for Sustainable Town Development
- Impacts of COVID-19 on Town Development and Sustainability
If you missed reading the Institute team’s presentation from the 2020 Summit, which focussed on the last theme in the list, you can read it here.

Are you ready to help make positive change?
The Institute of Southern Georgian Bay is centred around people and place. Like you, people involved with Institute programming are passionate about community and creating a space for learning and collaboration. Together, we are working towards a resilient, equitable, and sustainable future. Together, we are a connected group with unlimited potential. We bridge the gaps across sectors to address some of the challenges in and opportunities for Southern Georgian Bay – social needs, environmental impacts, and new ideas for a vibrant economy.
As a result of your ongoing involvement, as well as the support of our municipalities, the Institute’s programming is growing. For this we say thank you to each and every one of you.
Throughout the month of June, we will be launching our first membership campaign. We invite you to officially join the Institute. As a member, you will continue to receive access to events, be involved in working groups, and participate in workshops. You will be supporting the expansion of our programming and demonstrating your commitment to our collective impact.
Are you ready to explore, engage and create positive change in our community?
With much appreciation,
Rosalyn Morrison, Chair, The Institute of Southern Georgian Bay
