SGB Arts Network Launch Party – 65 People Gather to Support the Region’s Artistic Talent

By Amber Ebert, SGB Arts Network Coordinator

The SGB Arts Network is a new interdisciplinary, member-driven organization serving artists who live and work in the South Georgian Bay region. The network is a place for artists from all artistic disciplines to share best practices and explore potential collaborations. This network amplifies the artistic community’s collective voice and leverages our ability to advocate for space, time and funding needed to support creative work.

We are incredibly excited to share this video celebration of the Arts in SGB!

The video features dancer and SGB Arts Network member Kathleen Salvador performing in 14 South Georgian Bay region locations to provide a glimpse into our vibrant communities. Please feel free to share this video via your social media channels to help encourage everyone to connect with the vibrant cultural offering of the SGB region. If you share the video via social media, please tag the network #sgbartsnetwork.

We are grateful to work in partnership with South Georgian Bay Tourism with funding from RTO7 to create this beautiful piece that invites everyone to connect with the culture and the cultural spaces in the SGB region. This video would not have been possible without the collaboration between members of the SGB Arts Network, who helped coordinate filming in each location.

We hope it inspires you the way it inspires us!

SGB Arts Network Launch Party – 65 People Gather to Support the Region’s Artistic Talent

The SGB Arts Network Launch Party took place on Oct 2, 2022 at the Collingwood Brewery. It was a fun and lively sold-out event that provided our first opportunity to gather together in person to celebrate South Georgian Bay Region’s arts and culture community. We were so pleased to spend the night networking with arts colleagues from around the region. Many of them have had a pivotal role in the foundation of the SGB Arts Network from the very start.

We would like to thank everyone who worked to make this event happen, including participating artists Jess Bowman, Singer/ Musician; Jillian Morris, Poet Laureate of Collingwood; Kat Salvador, Dancer; Leah Holder, Actor/ Playwright; Erica Angus, Artistic Director, Theatre Collingwood; and Merryn Edgar, Visual Artist.

We would also like to thank our donor and partner organizations that supported the Launch Event: The Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts, Theatre Collingwood, South Georgian Bay Tourism, Simcoe County, the Institute for Southern Georgian Bay and Ontario Culture Days.

We look forward to organizing the opportunity to gather together again soon.
