Fall 2018 Update

Fall 2018 Update

This fall, the Institute is proud to be partnering on two important events and we encourage you to get engaged with both the Blue Mountain Foundation of the Arts (BMFA) Storytelling Festival & TEDx Collingwood.

A special feature of the BMFA festival will be Reel History presented this Friday, September 28, at the Simcoe Street Theatre. Three local short documentaries by Mountain Goat Films feature historic perspectives on the apple industry, ski industry and local Indigenous peoples.

Tickets are $20 and available at www.bmfa.on.ca or the BMFA Gift Shop.

The Institute of Southern Georgian Bay showcases Arts & Culture as one of our pillars because of the many positive aspects it brings to society and we recognize that it is an important driver for economic development and place-making. Please read the article “Why Arts and Culture” , written by Institute Board member Yvonne Hamlin, and get involved in the exciting arts projects, events, and programs in our region! The Arts & Culture working group is planning a special event as part of our Winter programming.

This Fall, the Institute is also partnering to present TEDx Collingwood on October 18. Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success with people from across the region talking about the speakers and the event for months. This year’s line-up looks extraordinary! https://tedxcollingwood.ca
