UN Habitat in Towns: Collingwood World Summit is part of the Canadian celebration of the United Nation’s 75th Anniversary. Habitat in Towns brings together multi-sector representatives as well as concerned residents to discuss challenges, opportunities, and innovation facing communities where rural and urban intersect. Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities will be the focus for this initiative.
Inspired by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this gathering will have presentations by mayors and town councillors, planners and professors, leaders and citizens interested in helping to create a more sustainable Canada. Along with 192 other countries, our country signed on to these goals in 2015.
Register here for the upcoming Collingwood World Summit. There is no cost for participation.
Institute of Southern Georgian Bay’s Design Team members from the recent Mapping Our Road to Recovery online discussion series, including Yvonne Hamlin, Liz Rykert, and Marilyn Struthers, will present our learnings in an interactive session called How COVID-19 is changing our thinking about sustainability and small town planning.
We hope you will join us at this gathering, as we begin to collectively shape the next 10 years in Southern Georgian Bay and a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.
Arts and Culture – Support for artists and our region’s vital arts organization
Tom Thomson’s Wake – the original musical about Canada’s greatest painter, now brought to your home LIVE in high-definition cinematic quality! September 2, 2020
Following the Collingwood World Summit, you can kick back and enjoy this special online presentation in support of the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts. Your donation will support the BMFA’s mission to foster original art and artists throughout Southern Georgian Bay.
Your ticket to this special live performance entitles you to view and re-watch the event within a 24-hour window.
Two years after Tom Thomson’s death, his friend, his lover and his fellow Algonquin Park guide gather to share their memories of the iconic painter. But did any of them really know the man? Through their diverging songs and stories, a new portrait emerges of the artist who defined Canada.
Featuring an original score, unforgettable characters and the breathtaking art of Thomson himself. Shipyard Kitchen Party is proud to partner with the award-winning Mountain Goat Film Company and CHS Productions to bring this original Canadian production to the screen with multi-camera digital cinema live streaming and live concert sound engineering, generously supported by the Town of Collingwood, 95.1 The Peak FM and Simcoe Street Theatre.
During the May 27th Mapping Our Road to Recovery event, we heard great support for maintaining a robust and vibrant arts community, which has played a very significant role in ensuring our well-being during COVID.
